CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of Honoring )
Leftovers Thrift Shop on the )
Occasion of their 25th Anniversary ) RESOLUTION NO. 2001/ 426•A
WHEREAS, the Leftovers Thrift Shop is celebrating its' 25`h anniversary; and
WHEREAS, during their 25 years of service to the community Leftovers Thrift Shop has
donated about $800,00 to the Contra Costa Crisis Center to assist in the operation of the
facility; and
WHEREAS, Leftovers Thrift'Shop has made special donations of$28,000 to the Center's
Capital Campaign to assist in financing the purchase of much needed space for existing services
and start up of 211 universal information and referral service; and
WHEREAS, the founders of Leftovers Thrift Shop, Jane Jones, Virginia Semrau and Molly
Blue are proud of the organization and the fact that Leftovers Thrift Shop has always been
staffed by volunteers; and
WHEREAS, Leftovers Thrift Shop receives quality donations from collectibles to greeting
cards. Donated wigs are passed on to cancer patients; eyeglasses, to the Rossmoor Lions Club;
medical equipment, to Rossmoor Medical Center free equipment loan bank. Periodically, unsold
merchandise is donated to American Veterans of WWII, Korea and Vietnam, as well as Books
for the Barrios and other.institutions and shelters; and
WHEREAS, Leftovers Thrift Shop is proud to be located in Contra Costa County at 2333
Boulevard Circle in.Walnut Creek.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors extend
congratulations and thanks to Leftovers Thrift Shop on the occasion of their 25`h
anniversary.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON September 18, 2001, by a unanimous vote of the Board
members present.
