HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 08051997 - 97-432 e rV THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this order on August 5, 1997 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Rogers, Gerber, Canciamilla, DeSaulnier NOES: None ABSENT: Supervisor Uilkema ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: In the Matter of Adjusting Compensation for Head Start Represented and Management Resolution No. 97 / 432 Employees in the Community Services Department Commencing January 1, 1997 WHEREAS the Community Services Director has advised the Office of the County Administrator the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has provided a cost of living increase to all eligible Head Start employees effective January 1, 1997. Now therefore, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in its capacity as Governing Board of the County of Contra Costa, and all districts of which it is the ex-officio Governing Board, RESOLVES THAT: A) Effective September 1, 1997, Head Start management classifications as listed below will be adjusted upward on the County salary schedule by 35 levels (3.34567%): Classification Class Code Head Start Director 9KD4 Head Start Asst. All persons who occupy a permanent position in any of the above listed represented and management classifications or who are authorized as limited term employees on September 30, 1997, shall be retroactively compensated back to January 1, 1997. In lieu of a retroactive pay requiring special payroll recomputation processing back to January 1, 1997, the County will make a lump sum payment to each employee for the period from January 1, 1997, through August 31, 1997, computed as follows: Employee regular pay, overtime pay, and specific other earnings ordinarily computed as a percentage of base pay will be added together for each applicable pay period to determine the Retro Pay Base (RPB). This base will be multiplied by the designated percent: (%). The payment amount thus computed will be added to the employee's October 10, 1997 paycheck where it will be listed separately as a LUMP SUM PAYMENT and will be subject to normal tax withholding and retirement deductions requirements. Any employee believing there is an underpayment resulting from this methodology exceeding $30.00 may contact the Community Services Department and the Auditor's office will investigate and issue the additional pay, if owed, as soon as possible. All provision regarding lump sum payment in lieu of retroactive pay shall be applicable to any and all employees who retired during the period from January 1, 1997 through August 31, 1997. f AerehY ar9y that this W a true and corredo/ an action taken and entered on the minutes piths Board of Superyisors on the date shown.
