`VJIERE,4S, the Wohday Run and WafkAgainst Drugs, sponsored by De(ta Kiwanrs to benefit
community youth groups, wi((take place on Saturday December 7, 1996;and
`GI MREAS, the Mohday Run and WafkAgainst Drugs and Drug free Schoo(Runs are endorsed
by the Contra Costa County Boardof Supervisors as a drug free activity foryouth andfamifies in the
Contra Costa Communitywide Drug andAfcoho(Action Tian(A partnership for a Drug Free Contra
Costa), and
WMEREM, the Mofiday Run andWa"gainst(Drugs serves as the finale event for the series of
(Drug Free Schoo(R,uns held during RedRi6bon'Weekin Octo6ersponsoreddy Defta 2000;and
`GIWE1REM,fighting substance abuse is not simpfy a one-time, one week battle. The ravages of
drug andalcohofabuse, the risks that exist foraffourfami(zes andfiiends present with us year-round
challenge;and
U,Y&l2cE,7S, this drug free event is another significant effort in the battle against substance abuse
and the promotion of self-esteem in our young people;and
NOW, VfERETORE, BE IT'1,SOLVEtD, that the Contra Costa County Boardof
Supervisors does hereby declare December 7, 1996, as °MoC:day Run and WaffiAgainst Drugs Day"in
Contra Costa County and urges citizens, cities, schools, community organizations, businesses and
governmentaragencies to participate in this activity to strongry declare our county's commitment to
fight substance abuse andpromote a drug free andheafthy rife style.
