HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09171996 - 96-402 IN THE MATTER OF RECOGNIZING ] RESOLUTION NO. 96/1402 SEPTEMBER 16-22, 1996 AS ] POLLUTION PREVENTION WEEK IN ] CONTRA COSTA COUNTY ] WHEREAS, Contra Costa County focuses on pollution prevention strategies to protect and sustain our environment. The County's Hazardous Materials Program of the Environmental Health Division is an integrated and cooperative approach to working with the community and businesses to help reduce costs and enhance business competitiveness to create a sustainable environment for everyone; and, WHEREAS, Contra Costa County has initiated a hazardous waste reduction project with Merrithew Memorial Hospital to reduce the purchase of toxic products and the disposal of hazardous wastes; to increase the health and safety of its employees; and to reduce the possibility of environmental releases; and WHEREAS, Contra Costa County is working with the Association of Bay Area Governments and the nine regional counties to develop an effective Green Business Program to encourage and reward businesses for achieving high levels of pollution prevention; and, WHEREAS, Contra Costa County is committed to maintaining a clean and safe environment for its residents through expanded recycling programs of household waste and household hazardous materials; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does proclaim September 16-22, 1996 as POLLUTION PR-EVEN77ON WEEK PASSED by vote of the Board members present on this 17th day of September, 1996.
