IN RECOGNITION OF NATHALIE SCHNEYDER, ]
TAMMY CLELAND, HEATHER PEASE, JILL SAVERY ]
MARGOT THIEN, COACH GAIL EMERY AND TEAM ]
MANAGER LAURA LACURSIA FOR WINNING ]
A GOLD MEDAL IN SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING ]
AT THE 1996 SUMMER OLYMPICS. ]Res. 96\384
WHEREAS, this was the first year in which the sport of synchronized swimming
was held in the Olympics; and,
WHEREAS, the Walnut Creek Aquanuts exhibited a flawless performance at the
1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia; and
WHEREAS, the Aquanuts brought the sport of synchronized swimming to the
attention of America and the world; and,
WHEREAS, a tremendous amount of practice and dedication has gone into
achieving the level of mastery exhibited by the team; and
WHEREAS, the Aquanuts set a wonderful example to which young people can
aspire; and,
WHEREAS, Olympic team members Tammy Cleland, Heather Pease, Jill Savery,
Nathalie Schneyder, Margot Thien, their Coach Gail Emery and Team Manager Laura
LaCursia are residents of Contra Costa County.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Contra Costa County Board of
Supervisors does hereby congratulate
Tammy Cleland Nathalie Schneyder
Jill Savery Gail Emery
Margot Thien Laura LaCursia
Heather Pease
for winning the gold medal in synchronized swimming at the 1996 Summer
Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote of those Supervisors present on
September 10th, 1996.
1 hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an action taken and
entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors.
