IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
In the matter of Honoring )
D.D. van Loben Sels for her Resolution No. 95/339
Outstanding Service to the )
Community )
WHEREAS, D.D. van Loben Sels has been a long-time resident in
Kensington, California, and an active participant within the community; and
WHEREAS, during her residency in Contra Costa County she was an active
Board Member on the Bay Area Tumor Institute Medical Programs
Committee; a fundraising consultant for the Disability Rights Education and
Defense Fund, as well as a member of the American Cancer Society and the
Lawrence Hall of Science Advisory Council; and
WHEREAS, she was the President and Diversity Trainer for the Oakland-
East Bay Junior League in 1980-81 and the President of St. Luke's Junior
Auxiliary in 1979-80; and
WHEREAS, she served as the Executive Director for the Oakland Festival
of Arts, Inc. from 1985 through 1989; and
WHEREAS, through her endeavors as the Chairman of the Board for the
East Bay Community Foundation, funding for two newly established child
care centers was achieved for Contra Costa County; and
WHEREAS, D.D van Loben Sels has moved to Bakersfield, California, and
her presence and community input will be sincerely missed here in Contra
Costa County;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
of Contra Costa County commends D. D. van Loben Sels for her over fifteen
years of dedicated service to the community and wishes her much success
and happiness in her new home.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on August 1, 1995 by a unanimous vote of the
Board members present.
