HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09131994 - 94-434 4& IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring ) APlX Ti's "BRIAN'S KIDS"for its ) RESOLUTION NO. 941434 Commitment to Improving the lives ) of Children Whereas, "Brian's Kids," a weekly TV program on KPIX-TV, San Francisco, has helped to create public awareness of the crisis in foster care and the needs of children in Contra Costa County; Whereas, "Brian's Kids" highlights the critical need for more foster families, particularly minority foster families, and has been highly successful in recruiting new foster parents; Whereas, "Brian's Kids"has sensitively portrayed each individual child's particular need for a family, and has led to many children being placed with families; Whereas, the "Brian's Kids" 1992 Holiday Special has already received national acclaim with the award of the 1993 Administration for Children and Families Public Service Award from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Video Documentary Award of the Gold Screen Competition by the National Association of Government Communications; Whereas, Brian Sussman of "Brian's Kids," Beth Freeman, producer of "Brian's Kids" and the management of KPIX-TV have demonstrated an extraordinary and sustained commitment to children in need of homes by producing stellar spots for "Brian's Kids." Now Therefore Be ItResoived that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County applauds and commends KPLX-TV for its commitment to improving the lives of foster children in Contra Costa County.
