HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 08021994 - 95-405 S- 1 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter Recommending ) a Countywide Advisory Measure on ) the November 8, 1994 Ballot Asking ) For Strict Regulation of All Handguns ) and a Ban of All Assault Weapons ) Resolution No. 94/ 405 WHEREAS, handguns and assault weapons are manufactured and used for the purpose of killing and injuring people; and WHEREAS, Contra Costa County citizens have great concerns about the safety of our community in light of the proliferation of these weapons in our neighborhoods, schools, and business districts; and WHEREAS, citizens have had few opportunities to express their concerns to state lawmakers on the subject of firearms; WHEREAS, injuries and deaths due to handguns and assault weapons are the foremost preventable public health crises in Contra Costa County: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors-of Contra Costa County that it supports a countywide advisory measure on the November, 1994 ballot which reads: Shall the State of California strictly regulate the sale and possession of all handguns and ban the sale, manufacture, transportation and possession of all assault weapons? Introduced by Passed and adopted by unanimous votes of those Tom Powers, Supervisors present on 'August 2, 1994.
