HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 07191994 - 94-362 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring HARRY YORK for His Years of Service ) RESOLUTION NO. 94/362 to the Concord Chamber Qt Commerce WHEREAS, Harr York, Executive Vice President of the Concord Chamber of Commerce since 1980, has recently accepted a new position with the Reno Chamber of Commerce and will be leaving Concord and Contra Costa County,, and WHEREAS, during his tenure, Harry more than doubled the membership and increased the Chamber's budget from $125,000 to $700,000; and WHEREAS, Harry has brought recognition and respect both locally and statewide to the Concord Chamber. The Governmental Activities Program he developed has been acknowledged for its success and excellence throughout the state, and his local networking with community leaders and the general public has made the Chamber a integral part of the City of Concord; and WHEREAS, aloni; with improving public relations, Harry has utilized his expertise to lead the Joint Chambers'Membership Drive and Tradeshow/Mixer; to negotiate the Airport Master Plan and a deal for 111SA/USAir and American Eagle's scheduled service out of Buchanan Field Airport; to defeat a major no-growth initiative; to initiate a community festival; to direct the Concord Convention and Visitors Bureau; and to launch Leadership Concord and the Concord Economic Development Corporation; and WHEREAS, we are indebted to Harry for his significant contributions to the Concord Business Community and acknowledge his efforts to improve the quality of life in Contra Costa County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors honors HARRY YORK for his dedicated service as the Executive Vice President of the Concord Chamber of Commerce. We are all fortunate to have benefitted from Harry's exceptional leadership and wish him much happiness and success with his new position and home.
