HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09261989 - 89-638 13 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Endorsing the ) Clean Air and Transportation ) Resolution No. : 89/ 638 Improvement Act of 1990 ) WHEREAS, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors finds that rail transportation results in cleaner air, less energy use, more transportation opportunities for those who cannot drive, and less congestion on already overcrowded streets and highways; and WHEREAS, the Clean Air and Transportation Improvement Act of 1990 would provide $1990 million to improve and expand intercity, commuter and light rail transit throughout California; and WHEREAS, the Act is compatible and consistent with the transportation package placed on the ballot by the Governor and State Legislature, and thereby will result in implementation of part of an overall transportation plan which will provide cleaner air and better transportation for all Californians; and WHEREAS, the Act would benefit Contra Costa County by providing funds vitally needed to implement new intercity rail service to Sacramento and the South Bay, improve existing Amtrak "San Joaquin" service to Oakland and through the Central Valley to Los Angeles, extend BART, and .establish light rail service; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, California, hereby endorses the placement and passage of the Clean Air and Transportation Improvement Act on the June 1990 ballot. Passed and adopted on September 26, 1989, by unanimous vote of the Board members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered in the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
