HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 09261989 - 89-637 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming ) the Week of October 2-8, 1989 ) RESOLUTION NO. 89/ 637 Mental Illness Awareness Week ) in Contra Costa County ) WHEREAS Mental Illness is a grave problem in society, widely feared and misunderstood; and WHEREAS more than 10 million people in the United States are disabled for long periods of time by mental illness in some form; and WHEREAS appropriate treatment for mental illness, when recognized, is cost- effective with excellent prospects for improvement; and WHEREAS mentally ill individuals and their families have begun to join self-help groups to combat the stigma surrounding mental illness and to encourage greater research into causes and treatments for mental illness. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that at the request of the Mental Health Advisory Board, the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County PROCLAIMS the week of October 2-8, 1989 as "MENTAL ILLNESS AWARENESS WEEK" in Contra Costa County. PASSED on September 26 , 1989 by unanimous vote of the Board members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an order entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
