HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 08091988 - 88-511 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Commending ) Margaret DePriester On the ) 'Resolution No. .88/511 Occasion of Her Retirement ) From the Moraga Town Council) WHEREAS Margaret DePriester will be honored upon her retirement from two terms of distinguished public service on the Moraga Town Council; and WHEREAS Margaret DePriester went from the Planning Commission, of which she was the first woman member and Chair, to the Town Council, often called the Commission's court of appeals; and WHEREAS Margaret DePriester was overwhelmingly reelected by the Town's citizens, who regarded her with trust and respect; and WHEREAS Margaret DePriester firmly established Moraga Beautiful Week, which will remain one of her most enduring and lovely legacies, following the environmentalist dictum to leave your place cleaner than it was encountered; and WHEREAS Margaret DePriester's terms on the Town Council were characterized by her insight, her look to the long term and her thorough preparation to tackle the most technical matters; and WHEREAS Margaret DePriester will be missed at County meetings, where she participated, bringing a quick and thorough grasp of complicated issues, convincing logic and the ability to ascertain fact from fantasy; and WHEREAS Margaret DePriester is the epitome of the - informed and open-minded public servant. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, California, hereby CONGRATULATES Margaret DePriester on the celebration of her retirement from the Moraga Town Council, COMMENDS her exceptional attention to the planning and human services needs of the citizens of Moraga and the County and EXTENDS to Margaret DePriester its best wishes for a pleasant retirement from elected civic life. Passed and adopted on August 9, 1988, by unanimous vote of the Board members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered in the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
