Warren Jackman Day )
Warren Jackman is recognized today for his 30 years of
commitment and dedicated service to the men and women in
organized labor in Contra Costa County.
After spending four years in the Navy during World War II, he
began his apprenticeship as an electrician in the International
Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 302 in 1947 . In 1956,
he was appointed Assistant Business Manager of Local 302 and
remained in that position until 1979 when he was elected
Business Manager and Secretary-Treasurer for the Contra Costa
Building and Construction Trades Council.
He has been recognized by many groups and organizations for his
efforts and has received awards from many of them including the
California Department of Rehabilitation, IBEW Local 302, BACOP
Chairman' s Award, and is credited with being the driving force
behind the formation of the Coalition of Labor and Business,
better known as COLAB in the Bay Area. He has just completed a
term as president of COLAB in June.
Warren and Della, his wife, from Levan, Utah, have been married
for 40 years and are the parents of two sons. They are also
the proud grandparents of two grandsons.
He has an easy-going style, which has been identified with his
ability to maintain excellent relations between labor and
management.
Warren' s dedication and service to the members of the building
- trades will be felt for many years after his retirement. His
leadership will be missed by all who have become his friends
through the years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors that
Friday, September 18 , 1987 , be declared Warren Jackman Day in
d Contra Costa County in recognition of his dedicated service to
Contra Costa County and the building trades industry.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on September 15, 1987, by a unanimous vote
of the Board members present.
