Wooten ) Resolution No. : 87/471 For His Thirty Years as an ) Elected Official ) WHEREAS Theodore Roosevelt Wooten was elected as a director of the West Contra Costa Sanitary District in 1958 and has been returned to the same office seven times by the residents of West Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS Ted Wooten has served as president of the district seven times; and WHEREAS he was one of California' s first elected black officials and his tenure in public office is one of the longest in Contra Costa County's history; and WHEREAS he has spent many hours dedicated to bettering his community by serving as chairman of the North Richmond Neighborhood Council and as president of the New Era Civic Club, and has been a volunteer for the California Department of Fish and Game for sixteen years; and WHEREAS he has recently been appointed to serve on the newly formed North Richmond Redevelopment Committee; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County that Theodore Roosevelt Wooten be congratulated on his thirty year tenure as an elected official; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County that Ted Wooten be commended for his devotion to the citizens of Contra Costa County who gather with his friends and family to honor him on October 23, 1987. PASSED AND ADOPTED on August 4, 1987, by unanimous vote of the Board members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an order entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
