THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Adopted this Order on August 25, 1987 , by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Powers , Fanden, Torlakson, McPeak.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Supervisor Schroder .
ABSTAIN: None .
SUBJECT: Exempt Medical Staff Physician
Emergency Room Assignment Compensation 87/ 526
Whereas the Board adopted Resolution 85/691 relating to Salaries for Exempt
Medical Staff Personnel ;
Whereas the Health Services Director has advised that severe difficulties exist
in holiday and weekend staffing of physicians in the Hospital emergency room
and has recommended adoption of special compensation provisions to respond to
this emergency for a six-month trial period;
Now, therefore, be it resolved that effective September 1 , 1987, the following
interim rates are established for weekend shifts in the Hospital emergency room:
1 . A physician assigned to a 12-hour shift beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday,
Saturday, or Sunday shall receive $855.00 for each shift worked.
2. A physician assigned to a 12-hour shift beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday
or Sunday shall receive $640.00 for each shift worked.
3. A physician assigned to a 12-hour shift beginning at 7:00 p.m. on New Year's
Eve, Christmas Day, or Thanksgiving Day shall receive $855.00 for each
shift worked.
4. A physician assigned to a 12-hour shift beginning at 7:00 a.m. on New Year's
Day, Christmas Day, or Thanksgiving Day shall receive $640.00 for each
shift worked.
5. A physician working a portion of a shift described above shall receive an
amount in the same ratio to the full shift rate as the number of hours
worked bear to the full 12-hour shift.
Section 4 of Resolution 85/691 is rescinded.
This Resolution is effective September 1 , 1987.
