HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 12181984 - X.18 X- ��-� THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on December 18, 1984 , by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Powers , Fanden, Schroder , McPeak, Torlakson NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: Child Care Initiative Supervisor S. W. McPeak advised the Board that the Band of America Foundation along with other major corporate interests is launching a statewide initiative to promote the development of quality, affordable child care. She noted that the Foundation is currently evaluating potential sites to select five pilot projects with a decision to be made in January 1985. She indicated that it would be advantageous for Contra Costa County to be selected as a demonstration site . Supervisor McPeak recommended that the Board take the following actions: 1 . Communicate directly to the Bank of America Foundation the County's interest in. participation; and 2. Appropriate $10,000 from the Family and Children's Trust Fund (voluntary contribution solicited in conjunction with property tax bills) to be used to match resources provided by the Foundation initia- tive contingent upon the selection of Contra .Costa County as a pilot site. IT IS BY THE BOARD ORDERED that the aforesaid recommenda- tions are APPROVED . On recommendation of Supervisor T .
