LANGO, DIRECTOR OF GENERAL SERVICES COSTA DATE: SEPTEMBER 23, 2008COUNTY FbUN'� i SUBJECT: FIRST AMENDMENT TO LEASE FOR THE PREMISES AT 887 HOWE ROAD, MARTINEZ FOR THE HEALTH SERVICES DEPARTMENT (T00601)(CP # 08-48) SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION 1. APPROVE a First Amendment to Lease with The Jordan Family Trust to amend the Lease for a three year period beginning September 1, 2008, and ending August 31, 2011, for approximately 3,600 square feet of warehouse space located at 887 Howe Road, Martinez, at a monthly rent of $3,058, for the continued occupancy by the Health Services Department, under the terms and conditions more particularly set forth in the First Amendment to Lease. 2. AUTHORIZE the Director of General Services, or designee, to EXECUTE the Amendment on behalf of the County, and to EXERCISE any additional options to the amended Lease. 3. DETERMINE that the project is a Class 1(a) Section 15301 Categorical Exemption under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). 4. DIRECT the Department of Conservation and Development Director, or designee, to file a Notice of Exemption with the County Clerk, and DIRECT the Director of General Services, or designee, to arrange for the payment of the handling fees to the Department of Conservation and Development and County Clerk for filing of the Notice of Exemption. FINANCIAL IMPACT The First Amendment to Lease will obligate^the County to pay a total rent of $111,552 over the three- year extension term. This amount was anticipated and budgeted in the Health Services Department's approved FY 2008/2009 budget. BACKGROUND The County has leased the premises for operation of the BioMed Equipment Unit and Public Health Division warehouse since September 1, 2000. The First Amendment to the Lease will provide for the continued use of the warehouse, as requested by the Health Services Department.
