These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County. BACKGROUND: On August 12, 2008 the Board accepted funding from the California Department of Education (CDE) Child Development Program for augmentation of the State Preschool Pre-Kindergarten Family Literacy via the provision of support services. State Preschool Pre-Kindergarten Family Literacy services are provided to program eligible residents via the County operated Children's Centers and through partnership with community-based agencies. A contract with Richmond Elementary School Inc to provide Pre-Kindergarten Family Literacy services was approved by the Board on June 17, 2008. This board order provides a pass through of the above noted support services funds to enhance the family literacy services.
