"Children Ready for and Succeeding in School," Outcome 3: "Families that are Economically Self-sufficient," and, Outcome 4: "Families that are Safe, Stable, and Nurturing." These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-income children throughout Contra Costa County. BACKGROUND: This grant provides funds for Riverview Head Start site to receive on-site observation and material support in the pursuit of National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation. The timeframe is out of date due to a misunderstanding regarding grant protocol between the Contra Costa Childcare Council and the Riverview Head Start site. The grant activities will be completed by December 31, 2008 with an option, at the Childcare Council's discretion, to renew the grant for another six months in FY 2009. Acceptance of these funds will assist the Riverview Head Start center achieve benchmarks to reach accreditation status with National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) in the coming months.
