HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 09162008 - C.51 TO: BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Contra FROM: William Walker,M.D., Health Services Director By: Jacqueline Pigg, Contracts Administrator Costa DATE: Atgmt 28, 2006 County SUBJECT: Approval of Standard Agreement#29-208-74 with the California Department of Public Health, Immunization Branch SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner, M.D.), to execute on behalf of the County, Standard Agreement#29-208-74 (#08-85292), with the California Department of Public Health, Immunization Branch, to pay County in amount not to exceed $413,987, for continuation of the Immunization Assistance Program, for the period from July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. County agrees to indemnify and hold the State harmless for claims arising out of the County's performance under this agreement. FISCAL IMPACT: Approval of this agreement by the State Department of Health Services will result in $413,987, for fiscal year 2008-09, for continuation of the Immunization Assistance Program. No County funds are required. REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROUND: The County's Immunization Program makes immunizations available to all persons in need of such service in order to prevent the occurrence and transmission of childhood diseases; and under the terms of this Contract, the State provides free vaccine to the County. The Program monitors the compliance of preschools, elementary schools, and secondary schools in meeting State-mandated immunization requirements through in-service programs and limited technical assistance. An adverse reaction monitoring system and outbreak control team are also included in the Program. On July 24, 2007, the Board of Supervisors approved standard agreement #29-208-73, with the State Department of Health Services, now known as Californian Department of Public Health, for the Immunization Assistance Program. Approval of Standard Agreement #29-208-74 will provide funding to continue services through June 30, 2009. Four certified and sealed copies of this Board Order should be returned to the Contracts and Grants Unit for submission to the State.
