FISCAL IMPACT None BACKGROUND The Health Services Systems Director and the Assistant Health Services Systems Director-Application Software are single position classifications responsible for setting highly critical policies and procedures for management and protection of the Health Services Department's information technology, in addition the security of the department's complex and integrated health computer system. Since these classifications are both high-echelon positions within the County Health Services Department, responsible for determining and advocating substantive program policy, it is recommended that the classifications be exempt. County Counsel has amended the Ordinance as required for exempting these two classifications, pending Board approval. RESULT OF NEGATIVE ACTION If this action is not approved, the County Health Services Department will not be able to ensure maximum responsiveness of these high-echelon classifications. Furthermore, the ability to filling these highly important positions will be significantly compromised.
