They are looking at petitioning with LAFCO to separate from the District and have us take Brentwood into our District. Commissioner Egan questioned if we would have to assume their personnel. Chief Richter stated he didn't know if we had to but it would probably be customary to pick up the existing staff. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Update on Railroad Property Gate Access Locks: Commissioner Chapman stated the Railroad's fire gates remain unchanged. Chief Richter responded that B/C Henry Warren is pursuing trying to get the fire gates updated and is trying to get the railroad to act on it. B/C Warren is presently waiting to hear back from his contact at the railroad. Commissioner Chapman asked that this topic be agendized to the next meeting. NEW BUSINESS: Nomination and Selection of Chair and Vice Chair for FY 2008/09: Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to appoint the existing slate of officers for FY 2008/09 — Commissioner Chapman as Chair and Commissioner Granados as Vice Chair. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Granados. All in favor, motion passed. Declaration of Surplus Property — Report of April 2008: The Training Division's surplus list dated April 2008 consists of video monitors and recorders, cameras and miscellaneous equipment. Commissioner Cunningham made a motion to approve the surplus equipment list as provided, seconded by Commissioner Granados. All in favor, motion passed. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS: Commissioner Ham: • Remarked on a recent fire incident at a Chinese Restaurant at South Main Street in Walnut Creek. Impressive array of equipment and work that was going on. He noticed a couple of engines with several yellow lights flashing on the engines. He stated the engines do not look like fire apparatus and feels that someone should look into this. Chief Richter stated the engines are meeting the NFPA standard when it comes to lighting on fire apparatus. Chief Richter suggested he would have the Apparatus Committee inspect the trucks and research what the requirement is for lighting on fire apparatus and have someone report back. He stated he would not recommend we start changing the lighting when we are already meeting the national standard. Commissioner Chapman asked that this topic be agendized to the next meeting.
