HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES - 08052008 - C.28 IN THE MATTER RECOGNIZING RESOLUTION NO. 2008/549 SENTINELS OF FREEDOM SCHOLARSHIP KICK OFF FOR SEVERELY WOUNDED VETERANS IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY WHEREAS, There is a need for"donations for severely wounded veterans in Contra Costa County, to make a significant difference in the lives of a severely injured soldiers,sailors, airmen, Marines or Coast Guardsmen'-who have earned a place at our community table; and WHEREAS, Sentinels of Freedom and their network serve our nation by"making sure that many of these fine service members';have the opportunity to lead successful and productive lives; and WHEREAS, These service members grew up in our neighborhoods, went to our schools and churches, played on our ball fields. They are the sons and daughters of our towns and cities, and they all have dreams of reaching their goals in spite of physical limitations; and WHEREAS, In"these times of war and conflict, sacrificegoes beyond those".vvho`bravely give their lives on the battlefield. Many others suffer,severe wounds and they're set ori' a new path to face uncertain futures. NOW, THEREFOR"E, BE IT RESOLVED That the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County, California does hereby recognize the Sentinels of reedoIm Scholarship.,ProgramDick Off and urge all in of the communities in Contra Costa County to serve our nation by making sure that many of these-fine"`'service membexslave the opportunity t0:`te d successful"and productive lives.
