SUBJECT: Approval of Novation Contract#28-556-13 with the City of Martinez
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION

Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner, M.D.) to
execute on behalf of the County, Novation Contract #28-556-13 with the City of Martinez, a
public agency, to pay County an amount not to exceed $11,600, to provide congregate meal
services for County's Senior Nutrition Program, for the period from July 1, 2008 through June 30,
2009. This Contract includes a three-month automatic extension through September 30, 2009, 111
an amount ilot to exceed $2,900.
FISCALIMPACT:
No County fiends required.
BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
This Contract meets the social needs of County's population in that it provides an average of 30
congregate meals per day, five days per week for senior citizens at the its Martinez Senior
Citizens Center.
On September 11, 2007, the Board of Supervisors approved Novation Contract #28-556-12 with
the City of Martinez, for the period from July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008, which included a
three-month automatic extension through September- 30, 2008, for the provision of congregate
meal services for County's Senior Nutrition Program.
Approval of Novation Contract #28-556-13 will replace the automatic extension under the prior
Contract and will allow the Contractor to continue providing services through June 30, 2009.
