SUBJECT: Approval of Standard Agreement (Amendment) #29-765-18 and #29-765-19 with the State of
California, Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&,BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director or his designee (Patricia Tanquary), to execute on behalf
of the County, the following:
A. Standard Agreement (Amendment) #29-765-18 (State 406MP002, A2) with the State of California,
Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board, effective July 1, 2008, to increase the Payment Limit by $308 from
$2,352 to a new total Payment Limit of$2,660 and to extend the term from June 30, 2008 through June 30,
2009, for County's participation in the Access for Infants and Mothers (AIM) Program; and
B. Standard Agreement (Amendment) #29-765-19 (State #04MP010, A5) with the State of California,
Managed Risk Medical Insurance Board, effective July 1, 2008,to increase the Payment Limit by $294,549
from $4,241,801 to a new total Payment Limit of $4,536,350 and to extend the term from June 30, 2008
through June 30, 2009, for County's participation in the Access for Infants and Mothers (AIM) Program.
FISCAL IMPACT:
These Agreements will provide a total increase in revenue of$294,857 from the State of California, Managed
Risk Medical Insurance Board, for the Access for Infants and Mothers (AIM) Program, for the period from
July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. No County match is required.
BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
The County has participated in the State-funded AIM Program since January 1992. This Program provides
increased access to maternity, delivery and infant care services for low income women who have neither Medi-
Cal nor private health insurance coverage.
Under this Agreement, the Contra Costa Health Plan (CCHP) provides comprehensive medical care during a
woman's pregnancy and delivery, and for sixty days post-partum. The AIM Program also provides
comprehensive medical care to the baby during their first two years of life.
