FOR 30 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE
TO CONTRA COSTA COUNTY RESIDENTS.
WHEREAS, Anthony Paul Kraintz is celebrating 30 years of dedicated service to the Public Health Division of the
Contra Costa County Health Services Department;and
WHEREAS, Paul began his permanent employment with Contra Costa County in April of 1978, working in the
Nutrition Program for the Elderly providing meals for seniors at congregate sites throughout the County,
including the addition of home delivered meals in 1980,and in 1982,:Paul was promoted to be the Director of
the program;and
WHEREAS, Paul's commitment tolsenior nutrition was underscored"m 1990 when he and Bob Sessler, retired Area
Agency on Aging Director; co founded the if profitorganizatton^Meals on Wheels of Contra Costa, Inc.,
for the purpose of raising.funds for Meals on",Wheels; ari organization that raises private sector funds to
subsidize meals for°fhomebound,elderlvrecip ents,and,.
WHEREAS, Meals on Wheels of Contra Costa has raised more)-than--$2.5-million,,.to date''Ind has subsidized more
than 1 25 million additional meals for homebound elders in Contra Costa County,and
WHEREAS,itis notable that the number of hoirie delivered meals has grown from an ayerage of 1;50 per day in 1980
to 1273'per dayin 2008-,`arid
WHEREAS, Pauls success in managing the Nutririon Program.for_the Elderly„which involved hng contracts,
personnel volunteer management; working with community:orgamzations;and„other County departments,
ultimately lead to additional assignments, and in 1988, Paulbeiii ame the Assistant Public Health Division
Administrator and later served'as-the Public Health Administrator,and

as Vice President of tie Local Independent Charities of America, is-,service- a 25-yeas member of and past
President ofIhe Ma'rttnez I iwanis,Service Club;,and tris 30.years of member"slop on the Martinez Historical

WHEREAS, Paul has a"passion for ,U.S.,,,California, and local historanlias

WHEREAS Paul has been married to tris wife,;Mai for`2 4 ears and has two children: Stewart, age 18, recently
named `Martinez Young Man of the Year' wlio`will be attending the University of Oregon in the fall; and
Pamela, age 14, soon to be a freshman at Alhambra High School,Paul's former alma mater;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors does hereby
honor Anthony`Paul'Kraintz on this, the occasion of his 30 years of service to Contra Costa County.

WHEREAS, Dr. Steven Tremain began his career in Contra.Costa County on June 29, 1978 as a
family practice intern from the UCLA School'of Medicine and
WHEREAS,Dr.Steven Tremain completed his4nternship and residency at the county hospital and
has continued to work for Contra,Costa Health7Services fo totali`of 30 years and

safety have been improved by his efforts.
