APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee,
apply for an accept grant funding from Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) in the
amount of$79,033 for the Low Income Flexibility Transportation Program (LIFT)for the period
June 1, 2008 through June 30, 2010.
FISCAL'IMPACT:
$79, 033: Metropolitan Transportation Commission (LIFT) Grant; $79,033 County match.

SUBJECT: Accept Grant Funds from Metropolitan Transportation Commission for the
Low Income Flexibility Transportation Program (LIFT)
1) "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School"; 2) "Children and Youth Healthy and
Preparing for Productive Adulthood"; 3) "Families that are Economically Self Sufficient'; 4)
"Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing"; and 5) "Communities that are Safe and Provide a
High Quality of Life for Children and Families," by providing transportation services to low
income, CalWORKs families to ensure employability and compliance with Welfare-to-Work
guidelines.
BACKGROUND:
The Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) currently operates the Rides to
Success Program (RTS)which provides free transportation services to California Work
Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) participants and their families. Under the
current RTS program, only CalWORKs participants are eligible for RTS transportation services.
Funding from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), with County match, will
enable EHSD to expand the RTS program to provide free transportation services to other low
income families currently served by EHSD.
