Contra Costa College District Preschool contracts July 22, 2008
FISCAL IMPACT:
These agreements accept funding from the California Department of Education and are
included in the Department's FY 2007-08 budget. There is no net county cost.
100% State funding.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Community Services Bureau of the Employment & Human Services Department's
Head Start program supports three of Contra Costa County's community outcomes -
Outcome 1: "Children Ready for and Succeeding in School," Outcome 3: "Families
that are Economically Self-sufficient," and, Outcome 4: "Families that are Safe, Stable,
and Nurturing." These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services,
including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low-
income children throughout Contra Costa County.
BACKGROUND:
Approval of these proposed agreements between the Department and the
Contra Costa College District will provide funding for preschool services,
filling a vital early care and education need for Contra Costa County children
and families.
The College District receives funds from the California Department of
Education for preschool services. The District, in turn, contracts with Contra
Costa County to provide the services. Interagency agreement 39-811-31 is in
reference to the College District's State Agreement CPRE 8030 and
Interagency agreement 39-850-19 is in reference to the College District's
State Agreement CFDP 8007 for the period July 1, 2008 through June 30,
2009.
