SUBJECT: Purchase of Public Safety Communication Shelters613 SPECIFIC REQUEST (S) OR RECOMMENDATION (S) & BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute a.purchase order with Thermo Bond Buildings Inc., on behalf'of the Department of Information Technology, to purchase (3) three communications shelters in an amount not to exceed $200,000 FINANCIAL IMPACT The cost of$200,000 is approved,.secured and 100% funded through a Homeland Security Grant. The grant has been accepted by the Office of the Sheriff and funding for these shelters is included in Project numbers l A and I B. The two CFDA#'s associated with this funding are as follows: Project IA -CFDA # 97.074 Project 1 B - CFDA # 97.073 BACKGROUND The Department of Information Technology has determined that additional communication shelters are needed at Highland Peak, Turquoise Drive and Cummings Peak. These shelters are required to continue build out of the West and East County Cells of the East Bay Region Communications System (EBRCS). Without these additional'shelters, development of the EBRCS will be delayed in Contra Costa County. In accordance with Administrative Bulletin No 611.0, County Departments are required to get Board approval for single item purchases over $100,000 The County' Administrator's Office has reviewed. this request and recommends approval. DoIT has determined that the existing communications tower at Highland Peak needs to be replaced. This tower is an essential part of the County's existing public safety radio system. Due to the age and condition of the tower, replacement is necessary. 4. Estimated cost of equipment: $400,000.00 5.
