RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20345, to retitle the Risk Reduction Specialist(V4SE)to Pollution Prevention Specialist
(V4SE); reallocate the salary of the Pollution Prevention Specialist(V4SE)classification from salary level QT51502 ($4,634-$5,633)to
salary level QT51552($4,870-$5,919); and add one permanent full time(40/40)position. [Represented]
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, the total annual cost of this action will be $110,684.76. The cost of this action will be completely offset by the
elimination of a contract as well as fees generated by the Hazardous Materials Division. There will be no net county costs associated
with this request.
BACKGROUND;
The Health Services Department has requested the revision and retitle of the Risk Reduction Specialist classification due to the
addition and expansion of duties allocated to the position. Due to the ever growing threat of global warming on our environment, there
is great emphasis being placed on pollution prevention from the local,state, and federal government level.

Due to this trend, HSD has allocated new duties and expanded the existing duties for the Risk Reduction Specialist which includes
duties related to pollution prevention and coordinating the Green Business Program. The retitle is necessary to accurately reflect the
duties that are now being allocated to this position. In addition, the department is requesting a salary reallocation of 5%, in order to
compensate for the additional and expanded duties as well as to increase the competitiveness of the salary within the relative labor
market
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this request is not approved, the classification title will not accurately reflect the duties that are being performed and the salary is not
commensurate to the additional and expanded duties.
