(100% Federal funds) (All Districts FISCAL IMPACT: This contract is funded through Federal Head Start funds. The funding is included in the Department's FY 2007-08 budget. There is no net County cost to this contract. These outcomes are achieved by offering comprehensive services, including high quality early childhood education, nutrition, and health services to low- income children throughout Contra Costa County. BACKGROUND: This proposed contract with Catholic Charities of the East Bay will provide specialized training and support services to assist entry level department employees who speak English as a Second Language (ESL) to obtain the required education college classes to meet State licensing and Head Start program regulations. The tutorial classes and small group sessions will help employees successfully meet educational benchmarks, which, in turn, will assist the department to meet state and federally mandated goals.
