BACKGROUND: In November of 2006, the Employment and Human Services Department (EHSD) converted its long-running Rides to Success Transportation Program for California Work Opportunity and Opportunity to Kids (CalWORKs) participants from a contracted bus model to a taxi-based model. The program has proven to be extremely successful providing improved service reliability and cost effectiveness by providing demand-response transportation services. EHSD is currently in the process of reviewing responses to Request for Interest (RFI) 323, RFI 324, and RFI 325 to provide Taxi Service throughout Contra Costa County. This extension will enable Contractor to continue providing services until new contracts are awarded. 19-233-3
