SUBJECT: Approval of Standard Agreement #29-208-73 with the Stere Department of Health Services
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S) OR RECOMMENDATION(S) & BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDED ACTION: .
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner, M.D.), to execute
on behalf of the County, Standard Agreement #29-208-73 (State #07-65219), with the State Department
of Health Services, to pay County in amount not to exceed $452,891, for continuation of the
Immunization Assistance Program, for the period from July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008. County
agrees to indemnify, defend, and save harmless the State from any and all claims, or losses accruing or
resulting to any person who may be injured or damaged by County in the performance of this Agreement
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this agreement by the State Department of IIealth Services will result in $452,891, for fiscal
year 2007-08, for continuation of the Immunization Assistance Program. No County funds are required.
REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS/BACKGROt.1ND:
The County's Immunization Program makes immunizations available to all persons in need of such
service in order to prevent the occurrence and transmission of childhood diseases; and under the terms of
this Contract, the State provides free vaccine to the County. The Program monitors the compliance of
preschools, elementary schools, and secondary schools in meeting State -mandated immunization
requirements through in-service programs and limited technical assistance. An adverse reaction
monitorin�� system and outbreak control team are also included in the Program.
On October 17,.2006, the Board of Supervisors approved standard agreement #29-208-72, with the State
Department of Health Services, for continuation of the long-standing Immunization Assistance Program.
Approval of Standard Agreement #29-208-73 will provide funding to continue services through June 30,
2008.
