RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20348 to REALLOCATE the salaries of the following classifications on the salary
schedule:
Maintenance Worker I (PSWB-represented), from salary level QS5-1138 ($3232.32-$3563.64)to salary level QS5-1136($3225.93-
$3921.14)
Maintenance Worker II (PSVC-represented), from salary level QS5-1188($3396.37-$3744.50)to salary level QS5-1186($3389.65-
$4120.15)
Maintenance Worker III(PSVA-represented),from salary level QS5-1352($3995.19-$404.68)to salary level QS5-1350($3987.28-
$4846.57)
Maintenance Worker IV(PSTA-represented),from salary level QS5-1469($4485.89-$4945.69)to salary level QS5-1467(4477.01-
5441.84)
FISCAL IMPACT:
There are no general funds associated with this request. The first year annual cost incurred is $63,834 for the salary reallocation,
which is funded through Road and Flood Control District funds. The net annual cost is $0 through equivalent salary savings of the
vacancy rate for funded Maintenance Worker series positions.

_BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department has requested a salary review of the Maintenance Worker I, Il, III, and IV classifications. Analyst
conducted an external salary survey, the results of which show the County's salary level for these classifications are below the market.
There are recruitment and retention issues for these classifications and the Public Works Department has additional difficulties in filling
supervisory level vacancies from incumbents in the Maintenance Worker class series.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should this request not be granted, the incumbents occupying the Maintenance Worker I, II, III, and IV classifications will not
appropriately compensated for duties performed and the Public Works Department will continue to experience recruiting and retention
issues.
