RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution#20360 to increase hours of one Librarian (3AWA-represented) position
#12693 from 32/40 to 40/40; one Clerk-Experienced Level (JWXB-represented) position #12740 from 20/40 to
40/40, and add one FTE Library Specialist position for the Dougherty Station Library.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The Library Department has estimated an annual cost of$131,198.62 to increase position hours and add one
position. 100% funding is through the Diablo Valley College contribution of$165,901 for fiscal year 2007/2008.
BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa County Library and Diablo Valley College, long range plan included expansion of the public
library building and operations to include a college library supporting the curriculum of the satellite college
campus, and along with this, expansion of staff and open hours.
This request will provide consistent services at the Dougherty Station Library in accordance to the agreement
with Diablo Valley College.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should this request not be granted, the Dougherty Station Library be under staffed and provide minim brary
services to students.
