SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:.
ADOPT Resolution 2007/ 3� approving the Side Letter of Agreement between the County
and Public Employees Union, Local One, granting Probation Department Institutional Services
Worker- Specialist (ISW), Institutional Service Worker- Generalist (ISW) and Institutional Service .
Aide (ISA) a differential of twelve dollars, ($12.00) per shift when asked by the County to relieve a
Cook at the Orin Allen Youth Rehabilitation Facility or Juvenile Hall. This differential is retroactive to
March 1, 2007.
BACKGROUND:
ISW's and ISA's, who at the County's request, relieves a cook at the Contra Costa Regional Medical
Center (CCRMC) currently receives an additional twelve dollars ($12.00) per shift.
The ISW's and ISA's are one classification regardless of where employed. The ISW's and ISA's in
the Probation Department, specifically Orin Allen Youth Rehabilitation Facility and Juvenile Hall, were
not being compensated when they relieved a cook at one of the above listed Probation facilities.
In an effort to be consistent, a side letter of agreement was signed by both parties to grant the above
classifications an additional twelve dollars ($12.00) per s when called to perfor the fu ctions of
Cook at either Orin Allen Youth Rehabilitation Facility or uve 'le Hall.

BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, in its capacity as
governing Board of the County of Contra Costa and all districts of which it is ex-officio
governing Board, hereby grants APPROVAL of the Side Letter of Agreement between Contra
Costa County and Public Employees Union, Local One.
The Side Letter of Agreement grants:the Probation Department Institutional Services Worker-
Specialist (ISW), Institutional Services Worker- Generalist (ISW) and Institutional Services
Aide an additional twelve dollars ($12.00) per shift when relieving a Cook at the Orin Allen
