RECOMMENDED ACTION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director,or designee,to execute a contract amendment with Contra
Costa Centre Association effective July 24,2007 to increase the payment limit by$39,200 to a new payment limit of
$81,700 for landscape services, Countywide Lighting and Landscaping District(LL-2)Zone 7 and Walden Green,
Pleasant Hill Bart Station area.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is'no impact on County General Funds. Funding is derived from assessments from the Countywide Lighting
and Landscaping District(LL.2), Zone 7 and Redevelopment Agency Funds.

REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS AND BACKGROUND:
As a County contractor, the Contra Costa Centre Association has provided management oversight of landscape
maintenance activities within Countywide Lighting and Landscaping District,Zone 7 Pleasant Hill Bart Station area.
The.agreement has been in effect since July 1, 2001 and remains in effect from fiscal year to fiscal year.(July.1.
through June 30.). Current annual payment limits have been set at $42,500 annually.:
The requested contract amendment .will increase the contract payment by.$39,200.to a new payment limit,of
$81,700. The additional.funding will be provided by Redevelopment Agency for the maintenance of an additional
area,Walden Green,which is adjacent to Zone 7 in the Pleasant Hill Bart Station Area.This change would become
effective July 24, 2007 .
The amendment allows for an increase in payment limit that will allow for the implementation of routine landscape
maintenance, incidental repairs and replacement projects, associated with the Walden Green area. This contract
ainendment will allow the Contra Costa Centre to oversee the landscape service for Walden Green in addition to
Zone 7.
CONSEQUENCES OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Without the Board of Supervisors' approval,Contra Costa Centre Association will not be able to provide any of the
necessary,landscape maintenance services for Walden Green in Pleasant Hill Bart Station Area.

Amendment Specifications
Original Agreement: This Amendment is in reference to the original July 1, 2001
contract between the parties and the June 20, 2006 First Amendment to the original
contract between the parties.
Contract number: 47841
Payment Limit Increase: The payment limit of contract number 47841 between the
Contra Costa County Public Works Department and Contra Costa Centre Association is
hereby increased by $39,200, from $42,500 to a new total Contract Payment Limit of
$81,700 annually.
Additional Services: When contract#47841 was executed, there was no money set aside
to maintain Walden Green area. This area was recently developed from a temporary
parking area to a landscaped greenway. The Walden Green area is adjacent to, but not
located within, Contra Costa County Zone 7 of the Countywide Lighting and
Landscaping District (LL-2). Since Zone 7 funds are restricted for use solely within this
assessment area, the Contra Costa County Redevelopment Agency has agreed to provide
Special Revenue funds towards contract #47841 for maintenance of the Walden Green
Area. Increasing the payment limit of contract #47841 by $39,200 will allow the Contra
Costa Centre Association to maintain the Walden Green area in accordance with the
maintenance standards outlined in the original contract#47841.
All other terms in the June 20, 2006 First Amendment to Landscape Services Agreement
entered into between the County and the Contractor shall remain in full force and effect.
All other terms in the July 1, 2001 contract entered into between the County and the
Contractor not superceded by the June 20, 2006 Amendment shall remain in full force
and effect.
