SUBJECT: Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-141-6 with Board of Trustees of Peralta
Community College District
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION(S):
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Jeff Smith, M.D.) to execute ori
behalf of the County, Contract Amendment Agreement#26-141-6 with Board of Trustees of Peralta
Community College District, an educational institution, effective May 22, 2007 to amend Unpaid .
Student Training Agreement #26-141-5 to modify the Program Plan pursuant to State requirements
with no change in the original term of January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2009.
FISCAL IMPACT:
None. This is a non-financial agreement.
BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
The purpose of this agreement is to provide Contractor's students with the opportunity to integrate
academic knowledge with application skills and attitudes at progressively higher levels of
performance requirements and responsibility. Supervised fieldwork experience for Students is
considered to be an integral part of both the educational and professional preparation. The Health
Services Department can provide the requisite field education, while at the same time, taking
advantage of the students' services to patients.
On February 6, 2007, the Board of Supervisors approved Unpaid Student Training Agreement
#26-141-5 with Board of Trustees of Peralta Community College District, for the period from
January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2009.
Approval of Contract Amendment Agreement #26-141-6 will modify the Program Plan to add two
additional paragraphs in accordance with California Health and Safety Code and the State
Department of Health Services Radiologic Health Branch and allow County to continue to provide
supervised clinical experience for Contractor's students enrolled in the Peralta Community College
District through December 31, 2009.
