SUBJECT: Approval of Contract 22-746-11 with New Connections
SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION(S):
Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Wendel Brunner, M.D.) to
execute on behalf of the County, Contract #22-746-11 with New Connections, a non-profit
corporation, in amount not to exceed $42,000, to provide outreach and referral services to
HIV/AIDS clients in West County, for the period from July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This Contract is 100% federally funded through the Ryan White CARE Act, Title III. No County
funds are required.
BACKGROUNDIREASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S):
This Contract meets the social needs of County's population in that it provides outreach and
referral services, including crisis intervention, making referrals to case management services, and
assisting clients in making and keeping medical appointments, to County residents living with
HIV/AIDS to improve and/or maintain their health status and promote stability in their lives.
On .Tune 18, 2006, the Board of Supervisors approved Contract#22-746-9 (as amended by Contract
Amendment Agreement #22-746-10) with New Connections, for the period from July 1, 2006
through June 30, 2007, for the provision of outreach and referral services to HIV/AIDS clients in
West County.
Approval of Contract#22-746-11 will allow the Contractor to provide services to additional County
clients and to continue providing services through June 30, 2008.
