Community Development - CDBG JOHN CULLEN: CLERK OF cc: County Administrator THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Auditor - Controller AND COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR Public Works - Whan BY , DEPUTY BACKGROUND /REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS The Ambrose Recreation and Park District (Ambrose) requests park dedication funds to help finance the cost of upgrading the swimming pool at Ambrose Park located at 125 Memorial Way in Bay Point. It is the policy of the County to utilize park dedication funds to meet local park needs. Staff has determined that this action is consistent with that policy and is consistent with Ambrose's Park Master Plan. Ambrose Park is designed as a community park and consists of open play fields, baseball field, soccer field, two play structures, BBQ pits, multiple picnic areas, a pavilion for rentals, swimming pool, and tennis courts. The swimming pool is in need of upgrading including installing a new lining over the existing fiberglass to reduce the likelihood of leaks and installing a new pump and filtration system to keep the pool sanitary and safe. According to Ambrose, the proposed project will restore the swimming pool to its full functioning potential. The total cost of the project is estimated at $65,000. Ambrose has been awarded a grant from the Stewardship Council in the amount of $40,000 to help finance the proposed project. It is expected that the proposed project will be completed by the summer of 2007. There are sufficient funds in the appropriate Park Dedication Trust account to approve this request. 4
