RECOMMENDATION: i APPROVE Appropriations and Revenue Adjustment NoSDUlauthorizing new revenue in the 1 amount of $1,915,000 from an Interdepartmental Service Agreement with the Health Services Department and appropriating it for security services at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Clinics. II. FINANCIAL IMPACT: i I There is no change in net county cost. 111. BACKGROUND: A recent audit by the Center for Medical/Medicare Services (CMS) cited the need for sworn personnel to respond to certain situations which were not appropriate for Public Service Officers. As a result, an Interdepartmental Service Agreement, between the Sheriff's Office I ar-d the Health Services Dept, for security services at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Clinics in the amount of approximately S1,915,000 was executed by the Board of Supervisors on July 25, 2006. The Sheriff will provide one (1) Lieutenant to serve as Chief of Security, two (2) Sergeants to i serve as supervisors for security and Sheriff's Office personnel, six (6) Deputy Sheriff's and I four (4) Sheriffs Rangers who will be assigned as Hospital Security. The added sworn and civilian personnel will provide the training and skills necessary to respond to criminal and emergency situations and building security within the facilities. The Health Services Department may claim reimbursement from other agencies for the cost of security services or may include security costs as "in kind" contributions of the County.
