LANGO, DIRECTOR OF GENERAL SERVICES k^ - -s COSTA DATE: SEPTEMBER 19, 2006 °�sTA�a;;N " COUNTY SUBJECT: REQUEST TO PURCHASE ONE ADDITIONAL PATROL VEHICLE FOR THE OFFICE OF THE SHERIFF-CORONER d SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to purchase one additional patrol vehicle for the Office of the Sheriff-Coroner. FINANCIAL IMPACT The Office of the Sheriff-Coroner is purchasing one additional vehicle for an estimated purchase cost of $22,352. The Health Services Department will reimburse the Office of the Sheriff-Coroner for the cost of the vehicle. BACKGROUND The Health Services Department has entered into an Inter-Departmental Agreement with the Office of the Sheriff-Coroner to provide personnel for security at the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center. The additional vehicle will be used by the newly formed Health Services Security Unit. The Health Services Department will reimburse the Office of the Sheriff-Coroner for the cost of the vehicle, in accordance with the terms of an Inter-Departmental Agreement. In accordance with Administrative Bulletin No. 508: "County Vehicle and Equipment Acquisition and Replacement Policy with Guidelines," approval is requested for the purchase of the vehicle. Based on a review of the need for the new vehicle and consideration of alternative fueled vehicles, the Interim Fleet Manager recommends approval of this request. This request has been reviewed and approved by the County Administrator for consideration by the Board of Supervisors.
