RECOMMENDED ACTION*
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract
amendment with MV Transportation, Inc., effective June 30, 2006, to extend the contract term from October 31,
2006 to December 31, 2006 with no change in the payment limit of$774,000 to continue to provide
transportation services to California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) participants.

This contract directly supports all five of the community outcomes established in the Children's Report Card:

MV Transportation, Inc. provides two different transportation services countywide for the Employment and
Human Services Department. These services, Children Transportation Project (CTP) and Rides to Success
(RTS), provided transportation to Ca1WORKs participants and their children. RTS provides same-day
employment related transportation for eligible and enrolled Ca1WORKs participants. CTP delivers door-to-door
transportation to and from daycare and school for the infant to high school aged children of CalWORKs
participants. The purpose of the two transportation programs is to assist CalWORKs participants and their
children to achieve self-sufficiency by removing barriers to employment,job retention, and to achieve
independence from the foster care system. (21-102)
