SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution Number 20124 adding eight (8) permanent full-time Social
Casework Specialist I (XOWB) positions and two (2) permanent full-time Social Casework Specialist 11
(XOVB) positions. (Represented)
FISCAL IMPACT:
This action will result in an annual cost of $893,427.00. These positions are 100% funded by state
revenues.
BACKGROUND:
A fiscal analysis of the State Child Welfare allocation shows that funds are available for additional
Child Welfare positions. The Department has determined that additional Social Casework Specialist
positions would be an appropriate use of the increased allocation.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If the Department is unable to add these positions the Child Welfare Division will continue to have
insufficient staff to provide effective and trained staff to meet the State mandates regarding Child
Protective Services.
