COUNTY DATE: September 12, 2006 SUBJECT: Add Three (3) Clerk-Senior Level Positions in the Health Q Services Department SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution number 20092 adding three (3) Clerk-Senior Level positions. i FISCAL IMPACT: The department states that the cost of this action is $224,695 per year and is completely offset by FQHC revenues; BACKGROUND: This action will provide a sufficient level of staffing for the Health Services Appointment Unit. The volume of calls to the appointment unit have been increasing, making it difficult for the current level of staffing to answer calls in a timely manner which is important to providing excellent customer service to patients and department staff. The, ideal caller hold time is under five minutes; however it has become difficult to keep hold times under ten minutes. In order to handle the volume of calls, lead and supervisory staff are assisting by answering calls which has resulted in their falling behind in processing their work. The department feels that the addition of the requested three positions will alleviate the current problem.
