RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution #20110 to TRANSITION one full-time Medical Social Worker-Project
(X4V2-Represented) position # 9169 and incumbent into the Merit System to Medical Social Worker II (X4VH-
Represented).

FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no cost associated with this request as the salary schedules for Medical Social Worker-Project and
Medical Social Worker II are identical.

BACKGROUND:
This action is being requested by the Health Services Department and complies with the Personnel
Management Regulations Section 1603 "Transfer Of Project Positions"; stating when the Board of Supervisors
establishes as regular service a program initially established for a specific period as part of an approved
project, employees who have served in project position for a least one year shall be included in the merit
system.

The incumbent has been in her position fogy more than one year, meeting the requirements for transfer outlined
in Section 16 of the Personnel Management Regulations.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should this request not be granted, the position will remain as project and the Psychiatric Emergency Services
Unit will continue to operate without sufficient staff that are trained in the area of'psychiatric illness and
interventions.
