APPROVE the conveyance of surplus County property, located at Frontage Road and Dover Way,to the City of Pittsburg, a municipal Corporation(City)pursuant to Streets and Highway Code § 960 and AUTHORIZE the Chair:, Board of Supervisors, to execute the Quitclaim Deed on behalf of the County. 3. DIRECT Real Property to deliver the Quitclaim Deed to Grantee for acceptance and recording. DATE.: September 12, 2006 PAGE: 2 of 2 Fiscal Impact: The County is tninsferring fee-owned excess county road right of way to the City which will relieve the County of maintenance and potential liability costs. Reason for Recommendation and .Background i Contra Costa County acquired certain real property in 1958 through a Relinquishment from the State of California,for road purposes. The property became excess when the adjacent Frontage Road near Dover Court in Pittsburg was installed.The 74(736 square feet parcel described in Exhibits"A"attached hereto,is excess and no longer-required for either the Count Iy's current or future use. A portion of this property was incorporated into State Route 4 and the remainder is required for city facilities and publiclutilities as part of the widening of State Route 4,Bailey Road to Rail Road Avenue, constructed by the Contra Costa Transportation Authority, Consequences of Negative Action: The County would own and be liable for a property heavily encumbered with city facilities and public utilities.
