RESOLUTION HONORING CROCKETT RESOLUTION 2006/484
UPON ITS 125TH ANNIVERSARY AND THE
CROCKETT MUSEUM AT ITS 25TH BIRTHDAY
WHEREAS, In 1839 the area that became Crockett was included in a land grant made to Theodora Soto.
Future California Supreme Court Justice, JosephsB`,.Crockett represented Soto through the legal steps
required to confirm the grant For his legal work,`Groekett received1800 acres of land; and
WHEREAS, In 1867 Thomas Edwardsiat the invitafion of his fiend Joseph`Crockett.relocated to the
Carquinez Strait to become}Crockett's'paitner in the operation ofa gram and cattlefarm on the south shore of

Abraham DuBois Sfarr began construction of a flour mill intended to be the worlds largest which today houses
the C & H Sugar Refinery; and " ':
WHEREAS, In 1906;"the California and Hawaiian Sugar Refinery,:owned by the Hawaiian cane,growers,
began refining "Pure Cane Sugar;; innthelconverted Star`rFlour`Mill Building;
WHEREAS, In 1981, as part of Crockett's Centennial 061ebrati6n;the Crockett Histoncal Museum was

opened and has4confinued `receiving, preserving and displaying collections eflecting theshistoryof the Crockett
