Costa By: Jacqueline Pigg, Contracts Administrator —` DATE: July 19, 2006; ra�a County SUBJECT: Approval of Contract#23-299-5 with the City of El Cerrito -3 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION(S): Approve and authorize the Health Services Director, or his designee (Art Lathrop)to execute on behalf of the County, Contract #23-299-5 with the City of El Cerrito, a municipal government, in an amount not to exceed $60,000, to provide first responder fire paramedic services by the El Cerrito Fire Department within the City of El Cerrito and the Kensington Fire Protection District for the period from July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007, including a mutual indemnification and hold harmless agreement for any claims arising out of the performance of this contract.. FISCAL IMPACT: There is no County General Fund impact. All payments are funded under CSA EM-1 (Measure H). BACKGROUND/REASON(S) FOR RECOMMENDATION(S): County Service Area EM-1 was established in 1989 to provide enhanced emergency medical services, including rapid paramedic-staffed ambulance response, to the residents of Contra Costa County. On May 18, 2004, the Board of Supervisors authorized the County's Health Services Emergency Medical Services Division to use CSA Em-1 funding to partially offset cost to the fire agencies of providing first responder Paramedic services in Zone B. Approval of this Contract #23-299-5 will allow the Contractor to continue to provide First Responder Paramedic Program services, through June 30, 2007.
