RECOMMENDATION: 1. FIX August 15, 20.06 at .9:30 am for a public hearing on the proposed increase of certain Forensic Service Fees and to set fees for new investigative services. I 2. DIRECT the Clerk of the Board to publish required notices pursuant to Government Code 6061. II. FINAloption NCIAL IMPACT: The of the attached Resolution will allow the County to recover the costs associated with the listed activities in the Fee Schedule dated July 1, 2006. III. BACKGROUND: In thell 11994 -1995 fiscal year, the Forensic Services Division was.required to recover certain operational costs from laboratoryusers. A fee schedule was established defining the cost of evide'hce examination services foi the users of laboratory services. The current fee schedule was adopted in. February 2004. Since that time the Forensic Services Division has experienced Increases in costs for salaries and supplies. Addis toxicology analysis of of�er drugs based on availability. New fees set at $100 per sample for Contra Costa Government Agencies and for private attorney, pro per defendant andlinon Contra Costa government agencies. DUI Checkpoints and Breath Operator Training — adds services of a toxicologist and breath alcohol instrument at DUI checkpoints for Contra Costa Government Agencies. New fee set at $1300. Reports and Case Documentation — adds reports and case documentation available on CD.
